Our speaker will discuss some of the masterpieces he has handled in his career in the art
world including works by the members of the Pre-Raphaelites and Modern British artists.
Why did certain works fall out of fashion, only to set world records decades later? A
fascinating look both at some great British artists and at their work within the global art
market.

A Crisis of Brilliance: Five Young British Artists and the Great War

The influential and innovative artists Stanley Spencer, Paul Nash, Mark Gertler, Richard
Nevinson and Dora Carrington met before the Great War as students at the Slade School of
Art, where they formed part of the school’s last ‘crisis of brilliance’. We explore the
fascinating story of these artists’ interlocking lives and work.

20th century Scandinavian design has hugely influenced our taste. We look at the
development of its fine art and design and how it offered an ideal life-style for the post-war
era, based on clean lines, natural materials and the notion that ‘less is more’.
